Hi,

You would have to do some more research but I would go for long tail keywords, very specific ones. I would dig deeper into keywords like…
“white toddler beds for girls” or “dark wooden dressers for boys”. Do some keyword research, write some good content and you might be able to rank for them.

No I haven’t looked at other programs yet.

In my furntiure website, I want to write reviews and details comparison posts like i did on my toy site. But when I check Google searches, the SERPs are filled with amazon, wayfair, overstock, and other furniture site links. I don’t see any amazon affiliate or other review site ranking for expensive furniture keywords. So I’m wondering whether I’ll be able to rank my reviews and comparison article for these keywords in this competitive niche. What do you think? What will be a good content strategy? Thanks

Sorry about the drop in earnings.
To be honest, I don’t even check the commission rate before working with a product or subcategory. Everything I do, recommend has to be inline with the website, it has to be highly relevant. If there’s a relevant product earning me 4.5% I take that over a product that’s not relevant but has a 8% commission rate. I will most likely see many more sales with the relevant offer anyway.

Have you looked at other affiliate programs as well outside of Amazon?

My focus was toys and home improvement. My toy site was my main earner, so overall I’ve seen a drop of about 40%, translating into loss of between $200-400 per month. Due to this change I think in decemeber season I might loose about $2000 in those months. So this change is a big hit to me. My plan was to focus on more toy site this year but now Ive abandoned and focusing on home improvement site.

The new flat structure is confusing. Many home items have 8% but some sub categories in this niche have 5.5% others like kitchen has $4.5%. Now every time I choose items I have to check and verify i’m not wasting my time and energy on lower commission products.
