Are you looking for information on how to rank your blog posts in Google and other search engines? If you are this post is for you.
One thing that we should never forget is that we write for the reader, there is a real person reading your content on the other side of the cord…
For the readers to find your content it is always good to get a little help from the search engines. That is when the on page SEO (search engines optimization) comes in. If we optimize the content for both reader and search engines then it will rank well. If you rank your content, your blog posts, high up organically in the search engines then you will receive good traffic.
This is what I mean when I talk about ranking organically
In this case I typed in the keyword ”how to rank a website in Google”. First Google show the paid ads then after that the organic listings.
This is where we want to show up on the first page of Google and other search engines for our chosen keyword.
I will not digg too deep into keyword research but I will add a keyword research training at the bottom of the page.
How to Optimize Your Post to Make It Search Engine Friendly
So what are some things you can do to optimize your blog posts?
I will use this article as an example. As you can see I put the keywords in the url, title and first sentence. After that I write my article in a natural way.
I also put my keyword in the tags. Another place to put keywords is in the title of your pictures.
All in One SEO Plugin
To help with my on page SEO I have installed the plugin “all in one SEO”. This add a little section with every blog post where I put in the Title, Description and Keywords. This will help rank my content.
When you are done adding content it is time to submit it.
When the blog post is submitted I usually tweet it over at Twitter and pin it over at Pinterest. I do this because the search engines crawl these places on a regular basis and I find that my posts get ranked pretty quickly if I do that.
Frequency of Blog Posts
After all the updates with the search engines it seem like they love frequent blog posts. Gone are the days when you could submit 5 posts and ”own” the number 1 spot for your chosen keyword. I have found that the search engines love when you post 1 – 2 posts weekly… If you post more then that is probably fine too, I just don`t want the search engines to get used to me posting more often. You want it to look natural to the search engines.
If you like to write a lot of posts at ones you can use the Publish section to set when you want your blog post to be submitted. You can publish immediately or you can set a date and time for when you want it to get done.
I find this feature to be very useful.
