There are many good article directories out there. Here are a list of my top 20 article directories that works very well, they seem to rank pretty well in the search engines and they can help you drive good traffic to your site.

Most of them require 400 word articles they allow 2 links in either the resource box or article it self. Most of them will also allow you to add tags.
There has been online rumors that article marketing is not working anymore. From my own experience I can say that articles got hit hard by all the Google changes, pandas, pinguings and all the other animals.
This required the article directories to make some changes. They now check the keyword density, spelling and grammar, links and more. What has not changed, what worked then and works now is quality content. Quality content will always rank well in the search engines. So I would say yes it is still possible to rank articles very high in the search engines.

When Google started to do all their changes Squidoo did too, pretty much all my money making niches where gone over night. They came down really hard on some niches, the money making niche was one of them, and all my hard work was gone.
I just got an email yesterday informing me that they are at it again, big changes… I learned my mistake and will not be effected this time.
Don`t get me wrong 2.0 sites can be great to use, but use them almost like an article directory used them to drive traffic to your OWN site. That`s what I do today I have my OWN sites but use article directories and 2.0 sites to drive traffic to MY sites.
When you use 2.0 sites and dirctories you play by THEIR rules, they are in charge of changes and updates. If you have your own site you are in 100% control.
