Making extra money on the side is something that fascinates a lot of people.  Often, it becomes a daunting process because of the way people approach the task.

So, let’s take a quick look at how you can break down making an extra $100 a month.  It really doesn’t matter whether you’re providing a product or service or if you take on a job.  As a few examples, you can:

  1. Have 1 customer that pays you $100
  2. Have 4 customers that pay you $25
  3. Have 10 customers that pay you $10
  4. Have 100 customers that pay you $1

This could also be converted into being paid hourly. So if you get paid $10 / hour, you’ll need to work for 10 hours.

Any of the combinations mentioned above could work.  Or, depending on how many people you want to work with, create another dynamic that works for you.

The point being, realizing that you have a variety of ways to charge customers and clients may help you come up with a creative list of goods and services that you can offer at reasonable rates. Breaking it down, makes it less overwhelming as well.

The important question for you to ask is:

What will you do with the extra $100 a month?

You probably have a good idea of that already. Will you spend it? Save it for something special?

Let’s talk about a few ways to make that extra money.

13 Ways to Make an Extra $100 a Month

1. Making Deliveries

There are several companies that will allow you to use your vehicle to make pick-ups and deliveries with as a contract worker.  Uber, Uber-Eats, Door Dash, GrubHub, and Postmates are a few.  Often, there is a phone app that you would log into and just wait for the order to come through.  When you are ready to stop, you just cut the app off, and you’re done.  If you have extra time and are willing, you can make extra money.

2. Making Crafts

Are you handy with the needle and thread?  There are people and companies who would pay you nicely for arts and crafts, stitching, and personalized embroidery work.  Placing a small, and often free ad online or on a site like Craig’s List or Etsy could net you a nice profit for a hobby you enjoy doing.

3. Painting and Handyperson Services

If you enjoy tinkering around the house, yard or apartment, then putting those skills to work for others could fill your pockets with green… (the kind that spends).  Depending on how much you want to do, consider getting business cards to pass out to friends and neighbors.  Making them your first clients could help you with building a clientele.

Other than painting, other services could include: helping people organize; raking leaves/landscaping, housesitting, pet-sitting, pet-walking.   There are a lot of creative things that can be done to help make you money.

4. Proofreading Services

If you enjoy reading and have a good eye for detail, you can make money proofreading other people’s work and pointing out their mistakes and help to correct them. Assignments usually vary in length and often, you can choose a category you like to pick from.

However, getting into that line of work can be tricky.  Joining a site like UPwork can get you off to a good start.  Beware of sites that want to charge you a lot of money to join but can’t offer you guaranteed work.  Sometimes the information on those sites is good but overpriced.  But—of course, the choice is always up to you to buy or not to buy.

5. Writing Services

If you like to write or give your opinion, this might be the right opportunity for you.  As a blogger, you can provide opportunities for others to advertise on your site as well as be a disseminator of information and ideas.

If you write stories and articles for other people, your skill is often referred to as being a ghost writer.  Basically meaning, the person you wrote the information for will use your thoughts, ideas, and opinions verbatim, but you won’t be credited, you’ll be paid instead.  Which, is really, not all that bad.  There may deadlines and time constraints involved.  But, if you can manage yourself and work with the person whom you are writing for, it can be quite enjoyable.

6. Sell Fiverr Gigs

At Fiverr you can provide services in all kinds of different categories, with a pay of $5+ per gig. Social media, writing and design are just to mention a few. 20 jobs ‘a $5 will generate $100, you’ll have to take into consideration the Fiverr fee of $1. So to pocket the $100 you have to sell 25 gigs. Most sellers have a basic gig of $5 then they offer to add ons and better service for a lot more.

What could you offer over at Fiverr?

7. Tutoring

Tutoring can be done in person or online. If you are proficient in subjects like language, math, science, history, biology or pretty much any school subject you could tutor.  You can join a site like tutor.com, to get your first clients to work with or advertise your service locally to get going.

8. Language Tutoring

If you master any language, English, Spanish, French, German… I can go on there are jobs for you out there. Tutor.com is a good place to start. Let me know if you want to tutor in Swedish, I have two kids that need it :).

9. Private Coaching

If you have good skills in a sport you could give private lessons. If you have mastered soccer, baseball, basketball, swimming… or any other sport you could offer skill drill camps for more than one kid or give private lessons. A few lessons a week could quickly add up and provide you with the extra cash that you need.

10. Babysit

If you are a stay at home mom, adding another child by babysitting can be a great way to add some extra income to your family. If you charge $10 / hour you will soon have your extra $100 a month.

11. Caddie

Do You Love Golf? Caddie, could be a great way to make an extra $100 a month, quickly. You’ll be surprised how well this actually pays.

12. Social Media Manager

Do you have a rough time getting off your phone or computer, enjoying Facebook and Twitter all day long? Many marketers are looking for social media managers to take care of their social media campaigns. Win-win, you get to do something you enjoy and get paid for it. Join a site like Upwork and start applying for jobs right away.

13. Start Your Own Blog

This is one of my favorite ways to make money, and it can bring in a lot more than $100 a month. You can read here how I made over $4K+ in one month with one of my blogs. Do yu want to know more about blogging?

Read this post on how to get started with blogging.

Of course, this is a very short list of items to choose from –for there are many, but hopefully, it will give you an idea to get going. Go get that $100 extra a month.
