This is a drinking person’s company… Drinking as in teas and coffees. Organo is a network marketing company that mostly sells a nice variety of tea and coffee blends. Its apparent theme is ‘empowerment of individuals through the strength of teamwork.’
Organo Review
Website: Organo
The Company – Organo
“Organa” started with three employees in Richmond, BC Canada in 2008. Their stated goal and mission were to “Change lives by helping people reach new levels of balance, freedom, and well-being” through the use of their premium products and taking advantage of their business opportunity.
The Organo Products
Their product line consists of beverages, nutraceuticals and personal care products. Green Tea, Black Tea, Red Tea, Hot Chocolate, and Gourmet Coffee are the main items.
Then there’s the Café Latte, Café Mocha, and Café Supreme. Their Brewing-Cup products include African Red, Colombian Roast, Rodeo Chai, and Te Amo. So as you can see, there are many of enjoying great relaxing beverages, as it seems…
Let’s take a look at their first product choice, Organo Gourmet Black Coffee.
Ganoderma lucidum – After reading some reviews, people were claiming that this can have terrible side effects when using long term. So I started to dig a little deeper and found an article from livestrong.com, called “dangers of ganoderma“. Here’s a screen shot from the article about side effects:
This is definitely I would take into consideration before starting to drink the coffee.
How Do You Make Money with Organo?
Looking at Organo’s Income Disclosure Statement, around 86% of participants of their distributors make from $0 – $599 annually. Five percent make from $8,000 to $20,000 and the top 1.5% make over $100,000. So, if you want to do their networking marketing program to make real money, you will have to work hard to get into the top five percentile. However, I could conceive the possibility that if you are a great marketer with your own social media tools—there could be a possibility of making money through sales using those social media tools.
How Much Does It Cost?
To get started with Organo, the Business Entry Kit is $49.95. For that amount, it says you get one-year FREE access to your Back Office and Pro Replicated website. So, the site is pretty much already built for you. What normally happens, in this case, is that your name will be associated with a site that you can send people to. This can be a good thing. Why?
- You don’t have to keep up with the inventory or site updates.
- You can basically tell people, “check out my site at….” and sales are handled for you.
- You have more time to continue focusing on your social media rather than the sales.
So to sum it up, the people you point directly to that site, will find it and hopefully visit it. This can be good if you have huge social media following already, but what happens if you don’t…
Nobody will find your site.
The content on your site is the same as everybody else’s sites unless you add new fresh content on a regular basis. You are building content and a following for Organo, not for yourself.
I would suggest instead that you set up your own site, that you have 100% control over, you can still promote their products, but if you decide down the road that Organo wasn’t for you, you still have your site and can promote something else. At least you will still have the website that you put a lot of hard work into. This way you can also rank for some good content organically in Google and get free traffic that way…
I’m getting carried away with the website part of it, let’s get back to the Organo review.
You also get a Distributor Binder, a few brochures, applications and a variety of samples of coffee, when signing up. The last thing you get in the package is access to wholesale purchases. Besides the cost of the kit, you’ll be paying for the product as you use it and/or get it for others.
Now the Business Entry Kit is for you to get started, it does not include any products except for the samples.
How Does the Compensation Plan Work?
There are seven ways to earn with Organo.
- Retail profit
- Fast track bonus
- Team bonus
- Unilevel bonus
- Unilevel matching bonus
- Generational bonus
- Global bonus pool
These are not described in detail though.
Are People Successful?
The site literature says that Organo has over a “half-million satisfied Organo Entrepreneurs”. But if the 86% quoted earlier are only making up to $599—then they could be in it for a different reason.
On the same note, if you can make over $100,000 on drinks, soap and toothpaste… that’s not too bad of a deal either if you are one of the 1.52% that does that. Because of such a broad range of compensation, I would say that success would be a personal measurement by each distributor.
You also have to count in the expenses.
Organo in the News
According to a CBS news story – Organo gold brews up controversy.
Final Thought Is It Worth It?
Honestly, I’m not sure about this program.
Is Organo a Scam? No, I would definitely go that far.
I do see some positives – The Entry is not too high ($50); you get a website and access to supportive tools, brochures and inventory at wholesale prices. If you can attach this or promote this using personal social media platforms, this could work. I would rather set up my own site though and funnel traffic through that one. That way I build a site for me and not Organic.
This could also work if you host workshops or have a small shop or workspace for clients. Everybody likes coffee and tea, and can definitely use soap and toothpaste.
**Having said that, I’m having issues with their technology. I’ve tried a few times to submit an inquiry form and have failed to have it go through because of the site’s CAPTCHA tool. I also had issues actually accessing the site previously. If this is also true with back office tools or the personal page that is given to each distributor when they join, this could be a problem and could affect sales.
You don’t want to have your clients and customers always complaining that they couldn’t place an order. You usually get one or two shots at a sale, so you want everything to run smoothly. Also, I still a little leery about the fact that 86% of the distributors makes less than $600 annually, not including the cost of the products. For me, it’s an indicator that either it really is a leisure business or that the commissions are so low, people are in it really for the discounted drinks.
I also have a problem with some of the ingredients used in their coffee, if there are hurtful side effects.
Lastly, the call will be yours. We here outline some good and some bad. You might envision, as a distributor of this product, you can clear off a couple of shelves in your home, office or business; display the products where it can be seen; make a couple of pots of coffee or tea, take a sip …and let the sales begin.
OR you will be moving on to something else.
Now What?
Here’s how I look at it. If you tried the products and love them, you see the potential and you are willing to put your hard work into it, then sure go for it. Know what you get yourself into though. Here are 10 questions you should ask yourself before joining an MLM.
You might enjoy the products but are not sure that the opportunity is for you, then continue your search for a way to make extra money while enjoying their java. If you enjoy working online take a look at paid online surveys or affiliate marketing for example.
If this doesn’t interest you at all… move on. What do you enjoy doing? Do you have a hobby or interest that you could write about all day long? This is how I make money with a topic I enjoy, making money sending people to Amazon.
I would love to hear from you in the comment section below, will you go with Organo coffee or are you picking a different route, please share with us!
