USANA: This company is headed in the direction of where science meets science-fiction. Their InCelligence Technology is something amazing; but also a little startling. Their nutritious and nourishing blends go beyond supporting cell health into the realm of regeneration. They have three main categories of their products–Nutritionals, Diet/Energy and Personal Care.
Usana Review, Is This Money Making Opportunity for You?
Company: Usana
Founder: Dr. Myron Wentz
Usana the Company
USANA was founded in 1992 by Dr. Myron Wentz. And, according to their literature, “USANA Health Sciences is one of the world’s leading companies in the field of health and nutrition”. In the organization as a whole USANA is very much involved in the Green Movement, and the mission of the USANA True Health Foundation is to provide in the areas of nutrition, clothing, health education and shelter.
The Products
As mentioned, USANA has three lines of product categories. Each category addresses a particular area of care.
Nutritions

In the Nutritionals category, products address health and regeneration.
Essential Nutrition: This product consists of vitamins and “core” minerals that make up the cellular nutritional system.
Digestion & Detox: These products support the liver and digestive health. They have the Smartshake and other probiotics that are effective in promoting a healthy digestive track.
Optimizers: These products target specific areas based on individuals’ specific personal needs. They have a joint-support supplement with Vitamin C to promote healthier joints. The Palmetto Plus supplement supports prostate health. The USANA’s maximum-strength Vitamin D supplement addresses vitamin D deficiencies and the Ginkgo-PS formula supports memory function and cognition.
Other products are available too, like the Visionex, Active Calcium, Active Calcium without Vitamin K, Proflavanol C, and the Belly Balance Pack. These are a few of the other supplements that are designed to help people reach their full potential. If you have trouble sleeping, you could try USANA’s Pure Rest, Sleep Support Pack, and the Wellness Pro Pack.
Mother & Child: You already know some kids don’t like to eat anything that’s good for them. That’s why the supplements offered by USANA are very timely. Body Rox is for teenagers. It’s a supplement of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. USAnimals is the daily multivitamin for children ages 2 to 12, and the BiOmega Jr. promotes the overall growing healthy mind and body. For moms, the Prenatal CellSentials is the go-to for building an excellent foundation for both mother and baby.
Diet / Energy

For the Diet/Energy category, USANA’s Rev3 Energy drink and drink powder mix are offered. These products promote the benefit of healthy, long-lasting energy.
Personal Care

Personal Care is the last product category. Hair & Body Care, Skin Care, and Skin Treatment are the focus of these products. There is an array of skin care products from the cleanser to toner to serum that has been developed to keep your skin looking…. good. No, wait… incredible.
All products work together supposedly as a system; working from the inside out. Making sure that you feel as good as you look.
How Do You Make Money?
According to USANAs compensation plan, you have 6 ways of making money with the program.
- Retail sales
- Commission
- Lifetime matching bonuses
- Incentives
- Leadership bonus
- Elite bonus
There are 3 steps to get started with Usana:
- Open your business center – this can either be one or three business centers, depending on how big you want to start out. There are requirements of getting so many sign ups within your first six weeks, if you go for the three business centers(4 sign ups). Failure to succeed and you get bumped down to one business center(2 sign ups required). You will need to generate at least 200 points in personal sales volume as well.
- Sign up for auto-shipment.
- Begin to build your team.
To join the USANA money making program you would pay $29 and set up your space; then you would have the responsibility of either buying products to maintain your distributorship or sign up new users. If you become an associate who is a distributor, you’d be responsible to buy the product and distribute it on a consistent basis.
It’s kind of confusing since everything is built on points and not a currency. So 200 points in personal sales volume, how much is that in $?
Though there wasn’t much I found derogatory about the actual products, there was plenty to be found about the money making opportunity and compensation for would-be representatives. The word scam is used liberally with some of the articles and videos I found for USANA. You can make some money by being a Distributor for USANA, but apparently, the majority of the representatives don’t. Or, the money that they do make is nothing to quit your day job for.
How Does the Compensation Plan Work?
In the reporting, it said that the compensation plan only worked for very few associates. Generally speaking, distributors end up making very little profit and the associates who only sign up people can’t distribute product and end up competing with the people they sign up! Basically, it’s a win-win for the company and they didn’t seem really motivated to make any fair concessions for the associates.
Here’s the USANA compensation plan explained directly from them:
Are People Successful?
The best way to find that out is by looking at USANAs own average income report statement. This is numbers taken directly from their US Earned Average Income Chart:
So 90.21% of the business builders earned less than $5K 2014. Most of them 57.07% earned an average of $293 annual. That will not even cover the expenses put out.
2.55% of the business builders make a full-time income.
When you look into the business opportunity, make sure you look past the hype and really dig into what it will take for you to become successful. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but be aware of what it will take to get there.
Final Thoughts / Is It Worth It?
USANA looks like it’s a ground breaking company in the field of teched-out vitamins and personal nutrition. They do a great job at explaining the ground breaking InCelligence technology. But, as far as being a multi-level marketing company, they do a poor job at even pretending to be one.
The company actually reminds me of a real-live creepier version of “Hydra” from the Marvel Comics series. They have benefactors who, for a season seem to prosper. But ultimate end up being duped because the ultimate goal of the company is secretly all about the R&D (Research and Development).
I actually think what they do is very interesting. And, as indicated earlier, they seem to put a lot of time and effort into their media promoting and explaining the science behind their products. They’re just not a good MLM company in my opinion.
They should change their business model to having an in-house sales force of work-from-home customer service rep and callers. That would be a better-suited mode of operation and would probably get them closer to what they want to accomplish with less bad press about being a scam.
They do seem to have figured out their niche. I can see how cell replenishment (versus cell rejuvenation) can be a big thing in the near future. If the MLM model is your future will be up to you to decide.
Now What?
Going forward you have a few choices.
-Go all in with USANA and their business, if you do make sure you read this post first.
-Try their products out and if you love them, you can always join the business opportunity down the road.
-It’s obvious that you care about your health and wellbeing otherwise, you would not have looked into USANA in the first place right. What about setting up your own business, being your own boss and being in charge of your own website?
With today’s technology, you can easily set up a health related site. When you have it up and running you can monetize it with health products of your choice. This way you can promote multiple products and you don’t have to ask your family and friends to purchase, it’s all done online…
Look at amazon, for example, they offer thousands of health related products. You would send visitors to amazon or other affiliate programs via your affiliate link if they make a purchase you will earn a commission. See how I made 4K with this one method.
