This just caught my attention and I want to share it with you all. We do want to follow the rules and laws doing online marketing and if you use Google Adsense this will be a must read.
We will talk about the EU Cookie Consent rule, but also how I fixed the issue on my sites.
If you publish Google Adsense ads on your site you need a ”cookie consent” from all visitors residing in a country, part of the European Union. You will have to ask to use their data.
It doesn`t matter if you operate your business from outside the European Union, this is about your visitors.
Most of us using Google Adsense do get visitors from all over the world, so it will probably apply to most of us.
Even if you just have a few visitors from the European Union you should still comply with the rules.
July 27 2015, Adsense announced via their blog that they are launching a new user consent policy.
Jason Woloz, Security & Privacy Program Manager, Google Adsense says:
“It has always been Google’s policy to comply with privacy laws, so we’ve agreed to make certain changes affecting our own products and partners using Google products.”
If you get any visitors from Europe, you need to take action on this.
What Can You Do to Comply with the EU Cookie Rules?
Let me first say, I`m no lawyer, I`m no expert in this field if you need legal advice you need to contact a professional.
But this is how I solved it on my sites…
On the sites I use Google Adsense and have European visitors, which means every single one of them, I installed a WordPress plugin to help with this.
The plugin I use is called EU Cookie Law.
This will allow you to show a small pop up, where your visitors will accept the use of cookies.
It looks like this and you can customize it to your liking.
This seems to work well and it does not seem to “disrupt” the site. I just installed this plugin, so I will let you guys know how it plans out.

So what`s your take on this? Did you know about this EU cookie consent? How do you plan to deal with it? Would love to hear your thoughts below,
Have a productive day,

Thank you Beth,
I know, you don`t only need to keep track of what`s going on here in the US, but you also need to keep an eye on the rules in the rest of the world…
Thanks for stopping by Beth!
