10 Tips on How to Rank Content in Google and Other Search Engines
Let me just say that there are hundreds of metrics and things you can do to help with rankings. Here are a few of them that you can take charge of yourself, that you can control.
1. Use Keywords
Taking use of keywords can highly benefit your audience, and bring more traffic to your site. Know what your visitors search for, rank for those phrases and make it easy for them to find you.
You will need a tool, a keyword tool, to find out what people search for. It will tell you how many searches there is per month and often also the competition for that keyword phrase. This is the keyword tool I use, you can try it for free.
If you master the use of keywords, the content you put out there will bring you traffic for a long time. Over time it will build. Say that you post 2 new posts/week where you use specific keywords. That`s about 100 posts / year. That can bring a lot of targeted traffic to your site.

3. Relevant Content
For Google to be able to rank the content, you have to keep it relevant to the keyword that you are targeting. There are many different metrics to ranking content, relevancy is one. If you are targeting ”train birthday cakes” within your post, keep it relevant to that.
4. Article Length
This one is a though one and I wouldn`t say that there is a set amount of words that work for everybody. I personally like to keep my posts 500+ words, which if you write about something you like, that`s not hard to come up with. I have found that if I keep my articles to 500+ words, the content rank well in Google.
You want to engage your readers, you don`t want to bore them. So if you need 400 words for a post then sure go with that. The same thing goes for a 3000 word article, if you go into detail about something you might need more words to explain things.
5. Internal Links
Link internally on your website, this means that you link from one post/page to another on the same website. This will not only help your visitors with navigation but also help spread the link juice (ranking power) on your website.
Internal links also helps the ”spiders” crawl your site and decide what`s important.
6. Outgoing Links
Link to other websites, when relevant. If you use another source or reference link out to that site. It will only benefit you in the eyes of the search engines.
If you have no links to other websites, you are a dead end in their eyes. If you link out to places like Wikipedia and other relevant sites then the search engines sees that and reward you for keeping things relevant and helpful to your visitors.
7. Keep a Posting Schedule
Post on a regular basis, what ever that means to you. It can be ones a week it can be 3 times a week, what ever you can commit to. That shows the search engines that you are a reliable source with new fresh content on a consistent basis.
8. Encourage Engagement and Comments
Get a discussion going and you have a ton of more content on your post. Comments does not only build trust for your visitors but it also shows activity and engagement in the eyes of Google.
9. Get Other Websites to Link to Your Site
If you have links coming in to your site, that means that you have others that find your content valuable and want to share it. That`s important!
One way to get links to your site is by being active on social media and have people tweet about your site, pin your site or mention it in a Facebook post for example.
10. Is Your Website Mobile Optimized?
Make sure that your website is optimized for tablets and mobile use. Google will take that into consideration when they rank their listings.
