A lot of times we get in our own way of succeeding with not only affiliate marketing but succeeding with things in general.
Our own bad habits get in the way of success.
In today’s post, I will talk about things that might stop you from making money with affiliate marketing. Most importantly I suggest some solutions for you if you happen to be doing some of these “bad habits”.
Let’s dive in and see if we can remove some of these money blocks. Let’s get you on the right track to making money with affiliate marketing.
Are These 7 Things STOPPING You From Making Money with Affiliate Marketing? 7 Ways to Fix It!
1. Think You Can Make $10K the First Month?
Sorry to be blunt but going into affiliate marketing thinking you will be making 10K the first month is not realistic. If this is the thought process you have, you will probably feel disappointed and might give up before you have given yourself a chance to make it work.
The truth is most people will not make huge amounts of money the first month.
In fact, most people will make $0 the first couple of months starting out…
Most successful affiliate marketers have been working with their business and site for a long time. They have realistic expectations and stick with it…
Better Approach: Have Realistic Expectations
Know that it will take time to build your business. Set realistic goals and have realistic expectations and you are more likely to stick with it.
Shoot for the stars, sure, but don’t give up if you don’t get there right away.
2. Shiny Object Syndrome, Jumping from One Thing to the Next
Do you keep looking for the next “trend” or the next “big thing”? Thinking if you can just find “IT” that one thing that will bring a massive amount of traffic to your site or make you a ton of money with little work?
Do you fall for the “ Get 10.000 visitors using this one strategy?” or “Make 10.000 monthly hardly any work needed”
As soon as you see a “NEW” make money program or strategy you are hoping this will be your solution… If you could just get the right program, the secret, that would solve everything?
Is this you?
STOP STOP STOP
Jumping from one shiny object to the next will not benefit you.
Better Approach: Find Something That Work and Stick With It
I know there are so many options out there, and it’s very easy to get distracted. Believe me, I’ve been there.
But…
One of the key elements to success with affiliate marketing is focus. Jumping from one thing to the next will not benefit you.
Educating yourself is very important and I’m all for that. But keep on buying shiny programs without implementing them is not a good solution.
There is one program that has helped me succeed with affiliate marketing. This is a great one-stop solution. It is the only training and community you will need to get started making money with affiliate marketing, IF you follow, learn and implement the training.
I’ve been there for 8+ years, because of the way the program keeps on developing and because of the great community.
Stop buying into the hype and the empty promises. Find a method a program (I don’t care if it’s the one I suggest here) that works for you and stick with it.
3. Do You Read, Prepare But Never Take ACTION
Are you reading, trying to learn it all before getting started? Education is crucial to learn the basics of affiliate marketing and to get started with your site and business.
But…
If you keep on reading, keep on learning to the point where you NEVER take any action, you will not move forward and you will be in the same place as you were yesterday.
You have to implement you have to take action to get going. You don’t have to have all the answers to get started…
Better Approach: Learn and Implement
Learn the basics, then start implementing what you learn. The best way to learn is by DOING. You can always adjust along the way.
Taking action will be crucial for you and your affiliate marketing business to move forward.
People are making money in many different ways… Pick one way, focus, implement and tweak until it works for you.
4. Losing Interest in Your Site and Niche
When first starting out it can be easy to be pulled into doing affiliate marketing promoting products teaching it. Products like “how to make money online”.
The question is, is this your passion do you have an interest in that? Some will say yes, some will say no. If you don’t like your niche, you will not last…
You will be researching, you will be writing you will be putting a lot of time and effort into your site, you might as well work with a topic or niche you enjoy.
Better Approach: Find a Niche That You Enjoy
It’s your business work with a niche that you find interesting and enjoy.
If you have a passion for makeup or kids clothes or soccer or gardening work with that… whatever your passion or interest is, go with that.
Build a website around a niche you enjoy and it will be more fun, more enjoyable for you to work with it. In fact, it will not feel like work because you are sharing your knowledge around a topic you enjoy.
I love sharing my experiences with affiliate marketing, do case studies and more, that’s why itsVicky.com was created. This is an outlet for me to share my online journey.
5. A Little Bit Here a Little Bit There…
Are you jumping from one thing to the next when it comes to figuring out what will work for your site or blog? Do you spend a month on Twitter then give up? Do you post 4 videos to YouTube then decide it was not for you? Do you write 5 posts and feel that your site is almost “done”?
Better Approach: Be Consistent
If you want to drive traffic organically to your site and monetize with Amazon then focus on that. To do that you need to constantly be putting out new content that has the chance to rank well in the search engines.
To be successful with organic rankings you need to be consistent with it.
Find a schedule that works for you!
For some, that means posting ones a week for somebody else it might mean posting 4 times a week.
Stay consistent, work with whatever direction you choose, tweak it and adjust until it works for you.
6. Are You Committed, Do You Stay Persistent?
Do you have the mindset of “oh well if this is not working I will try something else…”
If you are not committed 100% you will most likely give up. If you leave other options on the table… you will most likely give up…
If you are not committed, you will most likely give up when there are a few bumps in the road… and they will come.
Better Approach: Be Persistent and Commit
If you leave no other options on the table than to succeed with what you are doing, then you will push through the downs. We all have them; we all go through them… the down periods.
Now if you are committed you will push through, you will stick with it. This will weed out the “winners from the quitters”…
Here’s a great quote on that topic:
Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.
Tomas A. Edison
7. Quitters Will Never “Make It”
That brings us to the last point – Quitters Will Never “Make It”!
The way I look at it is, the only way to fail is to quit!
I’ve seen so many people give up and quit, who knows where they would have been today if they stuck with it… nobody will know…
Another great quote from Thomas A. Edison:
I have not failed. I’ve just found 10.000 ways that won’t work.
Thomas A. Edison
A better approach: Stick With It and Succeed!!
As long as you don’t quit and give up, I would consider a bump in the road a learning curve, NOT failure. The ONLY failure is to quit!
Commit long term, adjust along the way and become one of the successful affiliate marketers! There are plenty of them, come join us!!
If you want it bad enough, anything is possible!!
If you need help, if you need encouragement I suggest you take a look at this community… they offer great step by step training and a great community where successful marketers are “born” daily.

I think we all experience some of these at times. Being aware of them and stopping yourself when you see that you are going in the wrong direction is key.
Do not quit, keep pushing and keep a positive attitude about it and you will get there!
